Model: BE-17026 The 5 Layer Butterfly Puzzle will intrigue all children 4 and up. It's layers present the metamorphosis stages of a butterfly. Each layer of the Butterfly puzzle is a puzzle and each layer represents a stage in the life cycle of a butterfly. The top puzzle is the butterfly. The second layer is the butterfly emerging out of the chrysalis (cocoon), the third layer is the chrysalis, followed by the fourth puzzle, the caterpillar. And the bottom of the puzzles is the eggs on a leaf.
After carefully dissembling each layer the children will begin the sequential journey of an egg to a butterfly's life. This cycle is called metamorphism, which basically means changing form and shape. There is a song you can sing to your child that will add to the knowledge of this phenomena.
